Two sources familiar with the matter revealed that Intel Chief Strategy Officer Safroadu Yeboah-Amankwah is set to depart. This marks the latest personnel change since Lip-Bu Tan took the helm of the chip manufacturer in March of this year.
Intel confirmed the departure and stated: "We thank Saf for his contributions to Intel and wish him all the best."
The two anonymous sources said that Yeboah-Amankwah, who has served as Intel's Chief Strategy Officer since 2020, will leave on June 30th. His responsibilities included overseeing Intel's growth plans, strategic partnerships, and equity investments.
Some of Yeboah-Amankwah's strategic functions will be taken over by Sachin Katti, whom Intel has recently promoted to Chief Technology and AI Officer. One of the sources and another person familiar with the matter said that Intel's venture capital arm, "Intel Capital," will report directly to Lip-Bu Tan.
Lip-Bu Tan is a seasoned investor who founded venture capital firm Walden International in San Francisco in 1987.
Since becoming Intel's CEO, Lip-Bu Tan has streamlined the semiconductor giant's leadership team and directly oversees the important data center and AI chip divisions, as well as the PC chip division. He has also brought in new heads of engineering areas.
Additionally, he plans to cut what he considers Intel's "bloated, slow-moving middle management structure."
